Aerial Lesson Liability Waiver

Version 2026-09-16 · published Sep 16, 2026

Read this before you book. Aerial work is a physical activity carried out at height, and it carries a genuine risk of injury. This document explains that risk and what you are agreeing to.

HOW THIS WAIVER IS AGREED

There are two steps, and both are required.

When you request a lesson you tick a box confirming you have read this waiver. The version you accepted and the date are recorded against your booking.

Before your first session you must also sign this waiver in person. Ticking a box online is an acknowledgement that you have read it; it is not a substitute for the signed copy, and you will not be able to take part until that is done. If the student is under eighteen, a parent or legal guardian must sign, and must be contactable for the duration of the session.

WHAT THE RISK ACTUALLY IS

Aerial silks, lyra and hammock involve climbing, inverting, hanging and dropping, several metres above the floor, supported by fabric or metal. The risks include, and are not limited to: falls from height; rope or fabric burns; bruising, strains, sprains and dislocations; broken bones; crushed or trapped fingers; damage to shoulders, wrists, elbows, knees, neck and back; concussion; and serious or permanent injury, including paralysis or death.

These risks cannot be removed by good instruction, good equipment or good intentions. Matting, spotting, qualified teaching and inspected rigging reduce them. They do not eliminate them. Injuries happen to careful people doing everything correctly.

WHAT YOU ARE CONFIRMING

That you have read and understood the risks described above, and that you choose to take part anyway, voluntarily and with that knowledge.

That you are in good enough physical condition to take part, and that you have told us about anything that might affect your safety — any injury, recent surgery, joint or spinal condition, heart or blood-pressure condition, epilepsy, dizziness, pregnancy, or any medication that affects balance, alertness or bleeding. If any of that changes, you will tell us before the next session.

That you will follow instruction, will not attempt a skill you have not been taught or cleared for, and will not train on the equipment unsupervised.

That you will remove rings, watches, necklaces and anything else that can catch, and will dress appropriately for the apparatus.

That you will stop and say so if you feel unwell, faint, or beyond your limit. There is no penalty for stopping, and every session includes the option.

ASSUMPTION OF RISK AND RELEASE

In consideration of being permitted to take part, you accept the risks described above and agree to release LEONITA and Jenna Lyons from liability for injury, loss or damage arising from your participation, to the fullest extent permitted by the law of the State of Montana.

This release does not, and cannot, exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by our own negligence or recklessness, for gross negligence, or for anything else which the law does not permit to be excluded. Nothing here removes a right you hold that cannot lawfully be given up.

MEDICAL CONSENT

If you are injured and cannot consent for yourself, you authorise us to arrange emergency medical treatment. You are responsible for the cost of that treatment and for any transport. We strongly recommend you carry your own health insurance; we do not provide it.

FITNESS TO TEACH, AND OUR RIGHT TO DECLINE

We may decline, pause or adapt a session — including on the day, and including after payment — if we judge that conditions, equipment, or your condition make it unsafe. If we cancel a session for that reason, it is refunded or rescheduled. This is a safety decision, and it is not open to negotiation in the moment.

PHOTOGRAPHY

We sometimes photograph or film sessions. If you do not want to appear in anything we publish, tell us and we will not use images of you. Saying no changes nothing else about your session.

GOVERNING LAW

This waiver is governed by the laws of the State of Montana, United States.

IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS

Ask before you sign, not after. Write to orders@leonita.life, or ask at the studio. Nobody has ever been thought difficult for asking how the rigging is inspected.
